Design of pumping stations

Pumping stations are stationary and mobile.

Stationary units are usually constructed in existing or new modular premises for large agricultural enterprises or settlements.

Mobile pumping stations use small farms for irrigation and land reclamation.

The following recommendations are guided in the design of pumping stations:

  • maximum reduction of complexity and material intensity (especially steel structures) of individual structures
  • application of technical solutions and projects of well-proven structures in practice, maximum unification of them at pumping stations
  • wider use of industrial methods of construction of structures with a minimum amount of manual labor due to the use of standard building structures of factory production (precast concrete columns, beams, panels, pipes, etc.);
  • use of possibility of construction of pumping station in turn and its operation at full volume of finished constructions
  • the use of electricity for the pumping station operation as environmentally friendly and easy to operate; the use of diesel generators for this purpose must be justified by feasibility studies
  • maximum automation of technological processes during operation of the pumping station
  • preservation or improvement of sanitary and hygienic living conditions of the population in the surrounding area, as well as conditions for economic and industrial activity
  • conservation or multiplication of flora and fauna in the surrounding area

The following recommendations are followed when selecting the location of a pumping station hydroelectric station and developing its master plan.

  • Strive to accommodate all sites of the site to the maximum savings of building area, especially when the facilities have on land suitable for agricultural use.
  • To place the main structures of pumping stations only in agreement with the bodies of sanitary-epidemiological service, fisheries, water transport and water-protection
  • Position transmission and communication lines along crop rotation fields, along roads and existing routes
  • Remove residential settlements and separate pumping station structures from areas where a concentrated flow of water may pass in case of an emergency break of pressure structures; as protective means can be provided for the construction of special jet directional devices, protective dams, retaining walls, in the upper and hunting channels.
  • Ensure access of fire trucks to buildings and structures
  • Provide protection of the surrounding area from erosion, waterlogging and salinization.
  • Provide for the arrangement of roads that provide transportation to all facilities of the site, as well as the location of its parking.
  • Provide, along with maximum convenience during operation, high economic performance of the main pumping equipment, technological production of repair and installation work, the proper aesthetic appearance of individual structures and the site as a whole in connection with the surrounding area
