The issue of quality

of modern products

Quality - a set of features that determine the suitability of a product to meet certain needs for its intended use. The quality of the products supplied is determined by state standards - GOSTs, i.e., quality indicators of the corresponding products approved by the government. In the absence of GOST, the quality of products is determined by the technical conditions - TU.

Our company has long developed and implemented a quality management system, as well as a procurement management procedure. Supply engineers of the enterprise every minute remember about the threat of substandard supplies. Defective delivery is the most serious violation of quality requirements, causing troubles for both the buyer and the supplier of the product.With mass daily purchases of various types of goods, how to protect your company from an avalanche of difficultly controlled marriage, goods with hidden defects, low-quality and low-grade products that are cleverly disguised as elite brands, and even with all the accompanying documents certifying the quality.

Who to buy from?

So, for example, more recently, in the acquired steel flanges, we found many deviations. The fact is that our company is diversified. We not only mount flanges at the facilities and supply them, we are also refining them, we are turning the flange: we bore, drill additional holes, produce powder coatings, etc. During these works, it turned out that other buyers might not have paid attention to:

the flange thickness was less than according to GOST
outer diameter does not comply with GOST
drilled holes are not chamfered
metal casting has large voids that extend into the hole and the flange becomes leaking.

Also, in the purchased batch of stainless metal, a mismatch of the metal grade is often found with what is stated in the documentation. It is also revealed that the goods of the same batch have different physical indicators, i.e., it behaves differently during its processing. For example, the same metal requires different cutting, threading or bending modes, which leads to a complete restructuring of the machines during operation, and this is a lengthy process and all this is accompanied by a corresponding unforeseen marriageWhat can you do if the same metal can suddenly be softer than the one lying nearby? Of course, we solve these problems, find ways out of this situation. Our customers can be sure that we are responsible for the quality of their final products, even if it costs us a lot, but this could not have happened.

Ways to solve this problem

So is there a way out of this situation, what are the ways to solve this problem? There are not many, but they are:

1. It is possible to protect yourself from all possible troubles associated with the quality of the purchased products only with the help of a well-thought out, competently drawn up and legally perfect cooperation agreement that excludes all possible risks associated with the supply of goods of inadequate quality or with the possible identification of hidden defects.

2. A well-organized incoming inspection will reveal not only obvious defects, but also latent defects in the products at an early stage, and will save time on solving the problem.

3. And most importantly, for permanent work, you only need to choose the very “right” suppliers, for whom the honor, conscience and reputation of the company is not an empty phrase, who value the good name of their company and who, in an effort to save face before consumers, will not allow the supply of low-quality products.
